I found Dr. Kawano while looking at minimally invasive options for my CABG. Although he did not recommend min invasive in my case, he did my surgery without putting me on a bypass machine, and used two mammary arteries instead of removing a vein from my leg as another doctor was going to do. He is extremely knowledgeable about the latest technology and best practices. In fact, after double bypass surgery, I felt some chest tightness but very little pain. One week post surgery, I'm not taking any pain meds. I attribute this to the fact that I was otherwise in good health but also due to Dr. Kawano's skill as a surgeon. I've recommended him to all my family and friends.

Where do I begin to say, “thank you?” Dr. Yuji Kawano, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, and his amazing team at Medstar Hospital in Washington, DC. Based on a health grades search to find a doctor to treat my medical condition. , I was amazed at the impeccable level of bed-side manners displayed when interacting with a medical profession. I found him to be very Compassionate, Engaged, and concerned about me as a patient to therapeutically treat me before rushing in to perform my heart by-pass surgery. I had my procedure done on Wednesday, December 27th and when I woke up it was to the sound of him calling out my name in ICU care, telling me that the procedure was successful. I couldn’t talk due to tubes in my mouth but I was able to cross my arms to thank him. What can I say about an Exceptional Surgeon who has the “Heart of an Angel,” to heal sick HEARTs.
