She's the Best!!
I just had Refractive Lens Replacement done in both eyes over a 5 week period. She and her staff are amazing. She took her time to thoroughly explain the procedure and encouraged me to ask questions. No more reading glasses! I highly recommend her.

Ruined my quality of life
A year and a half after Dr. Rappaport did my cataract surgery, I still suffer every minute my eye is open. I came to her with perfect vision in both eyes and asked for treatment for dry eye. Following treatment of over a year, she said she noticed small cataracts in one eye and suggested she could remove them. Spent twelve hours(6am-6pm)in surgery center because she severely damaged that eye and had to call in retinologist, who did a second surgery that same day! Many dr visits later, endless eye exams, eyedrops, eye pain for weeks, poor, blurred vision in operated eye, frequent feeling of being unbalanced and disoriented, and little improvement. I had to send a lawyer's letter before her office would send my records, which I am entitled to. In them, she claimed I'd come in with glaucoma! She is being investigated by NY State, a procedure that I initiated. By the way, cataract in other eye was removed by another dr whom I chose very carefully, with perfect result.

She's highly knowledgeable, helped my dry eyes but unless you absolutely demand to go over results, you won't know what's going on w/ your health. I had blood vessel issues behind my eyes related to high blood pressure in June I only learned about in December. I wish I'd known so I could have discussed w/ my cardiologist & PCP. Took 2 months to get a copy of complete records. Her handwriting's illegible so you need to go over them with her: doesn't have typed visit summaries. Tracey on her staff is excellent & a sweetheart. Emmanuel, her assistant is a little rude & keeps asking if you remember.

Eyes Wide Shut
I understand doctors are overworked. Key to relief is to say no when you're overworked and overbook. The outcome - low customer satisfaction. More attention to wait times is needed. The longer a patient waits, the more obvious the patient is in the wrong place. I work in global finance and a 6:15p appointment does not mean a 7:15p appointment. Fix the problem, not the blame and do something extra (even a follow up reason for them leaving a scheduled appointment) to let the customer knows you care about them (not only their insurance).

Abrasive Manner
Dr. Rapoport spent a total of 3 minutes with me. She glanced at my eroded cornea and these were her words: "Your eyelid will rip off a layer of your cornea just by opening your eye, every day for the rest of your life. There is nothing you can do about this syndrome except see me every time this happens again, and it will." I was shocked and upset but she did not have time to answer any of my questions. I should add I'm on a HealthFirst managed care plan, so this may be how she regularly treats patients for whom she does not receive maximum reimbursement.
