I took my daughter to Mission due to complications of the flu. She was struggling to breathe. Her oxygen was suboptimal for a kid who is normally very healthy. This doctor told us her condition was viral and to just monitor her from home before even assessing her. Did not want to try any testing or breathing treatments to explore the issue or help her work if breathing. He told us we could buy a $20 pulse ox and bring her back if things got worse, despite that we told him we live an hour away. Very long story short, we got a second opinion from another ER physician, had her admitted and observed overnight. She ultimately needed fluids and had pneumonia. I’m very glad we decided to advocate to have her stay, but sad that others get turned away.

Poor care and neglect
My father had a recent collapsed lung, had been in a pulmonary rehab program, and is 70 years old. Dr. Flaming did the bare minimum (no blood work, CT, etc...) and this led to my father ending up with a life threatening abscess/sepsis. He had to return 2 weeks later, and multiple physicians could not believe he was not kept overnight and that additional tests that could confirm a serious infection were not run. This doctor potentially altered my father's outcome from the moment he provided as little care as he could and releasing him to go home. His lung function and overall quality will never be the same. It's sad to think there are probably multiple patients that have received this same level of care and have been re-admitted to the ER with sepsis or worse.
