Bladder removal and Neobladder
I was treated by Dr. Smith in 2020. He saved my life after a high grade, invasive cancer diagnosis. He truly gave me my life back and I will forever be grateful for everything that he did for me.

In 2018 and 2019 Dr Smith was at BJC Barnes in St. Louis MO. He saved my husbands life from bladder and prostrate cancer. He's so caring and intelligent. He listened and explained everything. I believe he was in STL for a season because God used him for my husbands care when other Dr's turned us away. This April will be his year 5 cancer free. Forever grateful.

He gave me my life back
In 2020 I was diagnosed with a rare stage 4 cancer that my local doctors said was terminal. He was honest about the chances of survival but still did it. It was 8 hours and tons of doctors but I am now in full remission and have my life when no one else would give me the chance.

We came from Cincinnati to get Dr. Smith’s opinion on my husband’s extremely rare cancer (47 years old). Neuroendocrine and prostate 4. He was right and if we would have listened right away, we could have possibly have saved his anus and rectum. BUT we did chose him for surgery and learned quickly that no one else would take on or even be able to do this surgery. If you have a complicated environmental cancer, this is your guy. And all of his fellows and residents under him are AMAZING- you have to remember they are extensions of him and so is his NP.

Dr. Smith performed my prostatectomy a couple of months ago. He and his team were efficient, friendly, and very professional in every way.

Dr. Smith destroyed my Father’s and my family’s lives due to nonexistent post surgical care. He spent 3 months in ICU and 7 months in hospitals and physical rehabilitation centers. RUN. Do not walk away from this doctor.

No, I would not recommend this doctor. I opted to have my prostate removed and this was done robotically. My surgery was botched. The week after my prostate was removed by Dr. Smith, I required emergency abdominal surgery, which just happened to be done by Dr. Smith's wife. I was given an ostomy/stool bag which I had to wear for 6 months. During the prostate removal, apparently an instrument had nicked my rectum. The ostomy was reversed, but I wound up with a huge hernia that required another abdominal surgery after another 6 months. I don't know if my abdominal muscles or my life will ever be the same. If you are considering prostate removal, I would not recommend robotic surgery by Dr. Z. Smith
