One visit and cured...well maybe not
Everything went well for my visit. I only went one time per my review title. Alicia helped me understand my issue, explain what I can do about it. One session is all I really needed. I am bout her age, so I dont mind the 80s references and I appreciate her style of communication. I felt at ease from the moment I walked in. I have only done this one times, so I can understand how it may take longer to build a good relationship for some people. Ive gone through 8 medical Docs til I found the perfect one. Anyway, Alicia is my goto for mental health.

Not effective. Lacked personal connection. I was offended when she told me I was not ready for counseling. Difficult to intially get connected. I got very little out of the counseling we had. Shocked to have such a bad experience as I have been to other counselors, and they were extremely helpful, but not her.

Probably right for some patients. She wasn’t right for me and I’m looking elsewhere after a handful of visits.

I just had the worst, most unprofessional experience with Alicia Thomas, and Mindfulness Counseling. After months of dealing with depression and anxiety, I decided to set aside my pride, and try to get help. I was excited when I called, and was given an appointment to see Alicia the very next day. I rearranged my entire day around this appointment, and showed up 15 minutes early, as they had asked, to fill out paperwork. After my appointment time came and went, and nobody came out to meet me, I called Mindfulness Counseling. They told me they would see where she was, and call me back. Ten minutes after my scheduled appointment time, they called me back, and told me they were busy the day before, and forgot to tell her about my appointment. I understand that mistakes happen, but I don't want excuses. Apologize, and make it right. And if Alicia really cared about mental health, and starting her patient relationships off on a positive note, she should have called me, herself.

I have already referred many friends and family who I love and care about to Alicia because of how much she has helped me. Alicia really cares, I always feel like she is truly listening to me vs. doing all the talking. Her insights are always spot on (at least for me personally). I've had counselors who never let me get a word in edgewise, or get defensive (for me) and badmouthing those who had hurt me, which just made things hurt worse. I could go on and on, but in short.. Alicia just gets it!

I have been a client of Alicia's for several years. She is very well educated on a wealth of topics that continually support my OCD, SAD, GAD, and depression. She's always a call or email away and I always feel very comfortable to be completely honest with her. I am living proof that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness in addition to regular talk therapy heals and can save lives. I find myself regularly modeling for others the skills I've learned from Alicia.

Alicia was extremely helpful in helping me manage family relationships, especially I was able to stop blaming myself and set boundaries. I wish I'd found her years ago.

In the time that was spent with Alicia, our relationship with our son became at an all time low. Our hope was for him to be given tools to help him to learn how to become responsible for himself. Instead, we were given an explanation of why he can't be responsible at the age of 16 almost 17. She degraded me in front of my son a number of times in one session. What little authority we have, I'm sure is lower after that session.
