Horrible response to a trauma client
Telehealth
I went to this therapist for trauma after seeing my dog , my best friend, killed by another dog, then she bled out and died in my car while I was rushing to an emergency vet. I also have trauma in an emotionally abusive relationship I am having trouble ending. This therapist was not only unhelpful but made me feel worse about myself and more hopeless. Telling me to 'just set a boundary' with the guy I've been involved with was so unprofessional and simplistic when I would obviously set a boundary if I knew how. Plus the therapist made me feel worse by telling me that HER boundary would be to 'not be in an abusive relationship.' She offered me EMDR but I could not feel comfortable with, or trust this therapist. I came out of the session feeling so bad about myself, which has been the way I have felt in the relationship.
