Beverly Dochterman

Beverly snapped at me during our session and made me feel very ashamed. I told the experience to a trusted friend because I was looking for advice about how to avoid upsetting Beverly again so she wouldn't shame me during therapy (because it made me feel awful) and my friend was shocked. My friend told me therapists shouldn't judge, shame or act condescending towards patients. When I saw Beverly at my 2nd session, she told me she was "hard" on me during the first session and she didn't expect me to return. No apology though for shaming me. I think Beverly is unstable. Won't be returning and I have filed a formal complaint with the CA medical board.

Beverly is a wonderful therapist. She is extremely knowledgeable, provides helpful advice as needed and listens carefully when that is what the patient needs. She cares about your growth as an individual and asks the difficult questions needed to help propel you to the next level of personal development. I highly recommend her as a therapist.

I chose Beverly based on her 5 star review here. She was obviously judgmental during our sessions. She once said that my problem was the most "ridiculous" thing she has heard in her years of practicing. I felt awful. She apologized at 2nd session. 3rd session I told her that I MAY have a cold coming on. She pointed to her door and told me I needed to reschedule and leave because she got swine flu in the past, can't get sick again etc. Very unprofessional and tacky. I was shocked.Won't come back.
