I Can't Thank Her Enough
I only get 1000 characters to write this so I hope I do this justice. I've been struggling with the fact that my best friend died of cancer in 2020 (she was 21). For four years I have blindly ignored my needs to grieve and put up a wall of what I'm calling 'Toxic Positivity' just so I don't have to acknowledge all of the painful memories of her suffering. That being said, there was a song that threw me into what I can only describe as a backflash. We used to listen to it before she died. While I listened, I would think about the what ifs and wonder if she would live. So whenever I heard it after she died, it would send me back to those moments. I was hesitant to do therapy as I wasnt sure if I was helpable, but I was! Dr Bouchra helped me locate the memories I had buried and we processed them over a period of time at my own pace. Only ten sessions and we reassociated the song! Now I can listen to it again without backflashs! Ive also processed the memories! I highly recommend her!
