I saw Dr. Smith during an extremely difficult time in my life when I was feeling very lost after the end of a relationship. His style is empathic, emotionally attuned, non-judgmental and thoughtful which was exactly what I needed during the long and difficult process of tackling my depression. I felt very cared for and even though therapy is tough and has it's bumps, I always felt Dr. Smith was right there with me. He was able to help me understand the ways I was creating the patterns in life that lead to my unhappiness and did so in a way that didn't lead me to feel ashamed of myself. I am sincerely grateful to him and would highly recommend him if you need a warm, thoughtful, and patient therapist.

Our son has schizophrenia and has been thru more doctors than I can count. He was homeless, and was so paranoid that no one could find him for a while. When we finally did, no other therapist would take a risk on seeing him. He's been more functional since seeing Dr Smith than in a long time. We are so grateful.

Therapy with Dr. Smith has been a stressful, almost traumatizing experience, that ultimately ended being a waste of time and money. Regardless of what level of experience a therapist really has (5 years, 15 years or anything in between) one basic thing they should be capable of doing is to assess in the initial consultation phase whether they can help a patient and/or if the particular problem a patient has is out of their area of expertise. Having 30+ difficult sessions only so that the therapist can conclude that the treatment and/or therapist was not right for the patient is something nobody should have to go through. Other things worth mentioning: - Dr. Smith keeps poor records for payments received and occasionally requests duplicate payments; - he engages in conversations with colleagues regarding patients in open areas (lobby/waiting area); - occasionally he submits grossly inaccurate information on insurance claims. Not recommended.
