I saw Cadyn off and on for about 8 years, but something changed in him in the last year. He became aggressive and contentious. Frustrated by this change, I texted him (our normal communication method) that I wanted a therapy break, effective immediately. He refused to acknowledge it and instead ghosted me. Three weeks later, he finally responded by telling me we would have to end our therapeutic relationship because I did not tell him I was open to a “step-down approach,” tapering off our sessions, which is what we’d done in the past. According to him, when that happens, he has this rule where he has to fire the client. This rule was news to me, as we had taken numerous breaks in the past and he’d never warned me that if I didn’t accept the step-down I’d be fired. Honestly? I think he was angry at me and lashing out. Which of course is not what anyone wants in a therapist! This whole situation has left me unsure if I’ll ever seek therapy again. So obviously, I don’t recommend him. :(
