I appreciated the structure and clear understanding of her style at the beginning; however, after four months of work, she sent me a very generic discharge email after not having addressed any such concerns in session. We were in the beginning phases of EMDR and she said that she thought I needed to find somebody better to fit my 'areas' of interest which was so unclear and left no room for closure or growth therapeutically. How professional is it to cut someone off at this stage (at least in this way)? Her profile refers to isolation and damn, did this bring on feelings of isolation. Ultimately disappointed but grateful for the opportunity to find someone who is more person-centered and a better fit.
