I visited Charlie Hiatt twice on my own and once with my wife. I was desperate to help heal my marriage to my wife of 18 years, as well as save my two children from the trauma of divorce. Charlie sat in his chair quietly not saying anything for 25 minutes as my wife and I’s discussion quickly devolved into bickering. Afterwards, Charlie said we should just get a divorce! Keep in mind none of us in this marriage are guilty unfaithfulness, physical abuse to each other or the children, or anything of extreme severity. Yet after witnessing our marriage communication problems first hand, his only thought was to tell us to get divorce. It would be like taking a lawn mower to be repaired, and the only thing the mechanic can think to do is hit it as hard as he can with a sledge hammer. What was damaged, is now destroyed.
