He also saw my mother in an unofficial capacity after she was tricked into a session with him by a mutual third party. She assured him during that time that she was not thinking of killing herself, to which he replied “I wouldn’t stop you.” Anyone who seeks counseling services from Dathan Paterno is at risk of dying by suicide. I am shocked that this man is still licensed to practice.

Life changing. He's brilliant, yet relatable.

I worked with Dr. Paterno for about a year. In that time, we discussed repressed incidents that caused me distress while never helping me manage increasingly destructive anger. Many sessions would devolve into him talking about his books getting published and his screenplay being optioned. Bottom line: he didn't help, he hurt.

This doctor saw my autistic adult -family friend and didn’t keep two appointments with him. The bad part was that it was difficult to get this adult to even go to counseling. The doctor ran him through a battery of test and then didn’t take my friend in at his next appointment time. My friend sat in the waiting room watching as he took took in someone else. Possible mistake? However, the next time my friend showed up he was told by another therapist that the doctor left and she didn’t know where he was. Okay… emergency? Why wouldn’t he tell his colleague? He never had the decency to even call my friend to check on him or explain what happened. I found his name on Psychology today and I am very saddened and disappointed! So unprofessional!

Dr Paterno is a great doctor, oustanding and knowledgeable, and has helped me significantly in my life. He's caring and compassionate while also never sugar coating an answer, only providing 100% accuracy. I recommend to all!

so lucky to have found this amazing doctor. My daughter was having a lot of problems at school and I did not want to give her medication, even though her teachers were strongly pushing us to get them.. Dr. Paterno was able to not only help us but do so with out the use of all those harmful psychiatric drugs! Thank you.
