Elan Golomb

I'm hesitant to leave a review for a therapist, because I know it's extremely subjective. However, I had a really awful first visit. I left after 10 minutes. Dr. Golomb tried to give me her book within 2 minutes of meeting her. Her phone rang 3 times in 10 minutes and she answered it. When I didn't answer one of her questions because it was an intense question and i wasn't ready to get into everything, she said I was "extremely closed off" and said she was "the only one trying." Very bizarre experience. She talked a lot about her own interest in environmentalism while trivializing my interests. She asked if I had any pets, like we were on a bad date. It was a really awful experience and I highly suggest you find a new therapist if you are considering her. Don't waste your time.

I've been working with Dr. Golomb for over a year now. She has helped me overcome suicidal depression that plagued me for several years when a number of other therapists could not help me. I continue to work with her and she has helped me better understand many issues and problems that have been with me for decades. No drugs, no coddling, just solid assistance in understanding my situation and effective strategies for making my way forward. I'm very happy and recommend her to anyone looking for deep analysis and assistance. Also, no staff, just her. It's plenty.

She’s a fine doctor, but can be curt. She’s never off in her insight which is the point.

Such a rude person. I called to schedule an appointment, she answers "Hello?" - No greeting or indication of it being a doctors office, I say "Hello is this Elan Golomb"and she goes "I'm a long distance call what do you need", I proceed to ask if she takes my insurance and if she's taking new patients, and she replies "I'm a very busy person, I don't know when are you looking to come in" and I just hung up. Very rude I have no idea how this person works in mental health services.
