Liz was incredibly helpful
Telehealth
I worked with Liz for six years total. She was an empathetic listener, and kept her eye on us finding fruitful pathways for me to move through challenges and feel stronger and more aware of my own processes. The time I spent working with Liz installed numerous wise and supportive sayings in my mind that appear now when I need them. Gems include “don’t borrow trouble,” and “when you pass the baton you pass the baton,” as well as the constant reminder to pursue awareness of where I feel experiences in my body and how I might resource myself to stay within my window of tolerance in the face of challenges. I would recommend Liz without any reservation and hope to have the chance to learn from her again in the future.

EMDR
Telehealth
Using EMDR to address past trauma has been effective and beneficial. The process has taught me that neural pathways can be changed to reduce the pain associated with previous injuries. The paradigm of addressing layers of hurt accumulated over a lifetime allows the client to face life’s present vicissitudes from a clear space rather than being burdened by the weight, grief and confusion of prior trauma.

My life has changed for the better thanks to Liz
Telehealth
I had worked with Elizabeth Janssen for two positive years of growth, and I can honestly say that she has helped me grow as a son, husband, brother, teacher, and just as a human being overall. Elizabeth is well educated, prepared, and connected. On top of this, she balances out her wisdom and credentials with kindness, compassion, and great patience. Elizabeth's ability to connect, motivate, and educate has left me feeling happily like the person I was always meant to be, and I can thank Elizabeth for this. The work in our sessions has completely shifted my perspective, and how I handle my everyday life has evolved for the better in such a short period of time. I can truthfully say that regardless of where life takes me or what comes my way, I know my handwork with Elizabeth Janssen has prepared me for anything. I cannot stress enough how much she has helped me reach my full potential and encouraged me to strive to keep soaring. Go to her and improve your life; you won't be sorry.

supervision
Elizabeth Janssen was my clinical supervisor for 4.5 years and I learned so much working with her. I truly appreciated her teaching style; compassionate, wise, and "right there with me," as well as honest and direct. I trusted working with Liz. She is well-read, researched, and trained as a therapist and supervisor. Liz was particularly helpful in guiding me to work with my own "activation" and "triggers" that would come up in sessions with clients (counter-transference); teaching me how to work WITH my experience, vs pushing it away. Working with Liz empowered me to trust myself a lot more as a clinician, and my work with clients transformed as a result.

Don't trust her
I saw Elizabeth Janssen for one session. I was very honest with her and in turn she was judgmental, arrogant and dismissive...a clear waste of my time. Don't trust her.

Reach out. Seriously, Liz changed my life.
I had been through years of traditional therapy following a very challenging and complicated childhood. I thought I was doing well, until I realized that I was not. I researched EMDR, and reached out to a few practitioners; Liz was, by far, the person I knew could help me. She went out of her way to thoroughly explain the process, the science of the results, and, most of all, I trusted her immediately. Thus began our work together, which was difficult, at best, but she was with me every single step of the way. After working with Liz, I no longer had to live my life with that memory monster skulking along behind me, and without my life being dictated by PTSD. She is amazing, kind, super smart, professional, yet very warm and open. You will be so glad you reached out; it literally changed me.

She taught me valuable skills to help manage my anxiety and panic and keep me emotionally regulated. Her calm demeanor was comforting and I looked forward to each session despite the difficult work we were doing. I highly recommend anyone seeking help to call her!!!!

Successful Therapy
Anxiety and a lack of confidence in the workplace and personal relationships were why I chose to go therapy. The root of my issues probably stemmed from the way my parents’ culture was imbedded in the way I was raised. After searching for a therapist to address these issues, I chose to go with Elizabeth Janssen who understood how cultures influenced behavior. She was able to give me the tools to cope with my anxiety, eventually giving me the confidence that I needed to improve my life. My relationships became healthier because I was able to interact better with people that were important to me and cut out the relationships that no longer served me. The way that I interacted at work improved as well because I spoke more productively in meetings, enjoyed the job more, and didn’t give authority figures more respect than they deserved. Overall, I would not have gotten to this point without hard work and the help of Elizabeth.

The only reason I gave one star was so that I could leave this comment. It is based on a phone conversation with Elizabeth Janssen over eight months ago, but my negative impression still lingers. I never made it to a visit, because of the unbelievably dismissive, unprofessional and condescending treatment she subjected me to during our initial phone assessment. If she wasn't intentionally trying to provoke my anger, then she is certainly the most ill-suited person to this profession I have ever encountered. Elizabeth Janssen cured me of any desire to ever seek help again in the future. For the record, I have had several positive experiences in the past.
