Dangerous mistakes on Blood Pressure readings by two poorly trained nurses on 3 attempts/two office visits. Inaccurate reading at pre-surgical physical caused Dr. Larson to put my hubby on unneeded BP lowering medicine and delayed approval for surgery. Multiple Errors: nurses taking BP used standard cuff on large man. Had him sitting on exam table, legs and arms dangling, no back support. Any “One” of these errors can cause a misread by 2-10 points, per Mayo Clinic. Train your Nurses: patient sitting in chair with back support, feet flat on floor, ankles uncrossed, arm with cuff resting on counter with cuff at heart level. How many people have you put on BP meds unnecessarily or delayed surgery because of inaccuracies?! Hubby’s normal PB is 125/77. Even read that in ER one week after surgery and on NO BP meds. Recheck appt with Cardiologist post surgery, whose opinion was "very good BP, no meds needed and those nurses s/b be trained/fired and avoid that Dr. in the future.
