Dr. Cottam has always been professional and has the best interest of the children first and foremost. The complaints are from patients who did not get what they wanted and would rather blame someone else than address their issues.

Following is my personal opinion: I paid Dr Cottam to do a custody evaluation. I feel like I regret this immensely.

Dr Cottam’s complete lack of professionalism is astounding. Her office manager gossips about patients and Dr. Cottam repeats the same things at every visit, refuses to address key issues such as spousal abuse, and completely neglects the needs of kids. She works hand in hand with certain lawyers and know that as a small office, she can help to control an unethical power dynamic and limit the rights of her patients. If you say anything that disagrees with her, she says “if you don’t like me then—“ basically suggesting that you “don’t like” her if you disagree at all. She promotes father’s rights regardless of the father’s history and she discourages healthy family relationships between all family. She makes assumptions that are dangerous. She should not prescribe therapy.

She said she was on my side. I didn’t want to pay for her to testify so she agreed to write a letter in my favor. My ex agreed to pay her to testify and she flipped sides. She’s unethical and has an unrealistic approach to co-parenting. She thought that since we both loved our child that somehow translate us into being able to co-parent. She told judge that we could successfully co-parent but was requiring us to come to weekly sessions because our communication was so bad. It added up to her thinking if we were forced to co-parent then she could make a lot of money off of us and that was what drove her decision.

I do not recommend Dr. Glenda Cottam. She was appointed as the child custody evaluator in my husband's custody case. Her reports that she prepared for the Court were not consistent and she was clearly biased towards my husband. For instance, my husband scored a 66BR on the Narcissism Scale on the MCMI-3 and my stepson's mom scored an 89BR on the Narcissism scale. In her diagnostic impression of my husband, she reported my husband has narcissistic traits and did not report that my stepson’s mom has narcissistic traits or Narcissistic Personality Disorder despite her score being 23 points higher than my husband's. Also, according to Hesse et al. (2012) a score > or = to 85BR on the MCMI-3 should correlate with the presence of a disorder yet Dr. Cottam did not diagnose my stepson's mom with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I wish I had more room because I have so much more to say about Dr. Glenda Cottam. Needless to say, do not hire her as your child custody evaluator.

I have been goin to Dr. Cottam for some time. I can assure you that this woman is not racist, that allegation is so wrong. I feel that she cares about the children involved in these custody disputes. I for one did not get the outcome I wanted on all my children but do understand that everything was done to provide peace for our kids. When reading negative review about this woman understand that not every parent will be happy with the courts outcome and look for someone to blame. My children continue to visit Dr. Cottam and her care for their mental well being is evident. I am grateful for her continued care of my children and listening skills.

Glenda Cottam is an Attorney who provides "therapy sessions" so she can pose as an expert therapeutic witness in family court. Say that to yourself out loud 3 times. She meets her clients through their lawyers and is paid for therapy (legal coaching that includes the lawyer but is billed to insurance), depositions and trial services. Why hasn't the community whistleblown this woman? She is committing medical and legal fraud, as well as misrepresenting herself entirely. If she is paid for her testimony, she is easily putting Omaha children into the hands of parents who are willing to pretend to get therapy and present this to court, rather than getting actual therapy: a sure sign they are not looking out for their kids. Parents, don't go this low route and get real help if you want custody of your kids. Using Glenda is cheap and you know. Lawyers, stop using this person you know is the town bicycle for testimony. Judges, stop taking her seriously. All, investigate this.

Dr. Cottamis the only councelor I’ve ever met, where I feel like the doctor truly cares. With appointments, she doesn’t cut you off when the your time is up. She and her staff are very courteous and in a word “human.” She has been extremely helpful with techniques and tips to help me cope with anxieties.

Dr. Cottam is by far the worst psychologist I have ever been around. My daughter has been damaged beyond repair because of her! Because of her false statements in court (that she later recanted) she put my daughter in a dangerous situation where she was physically, emotionally, and verbally abused on a daily basis for 4.5 years. It took so much to get my daughter out of that situation and to get her safe. Even she wouldn’t believe my daughter when she would tell her that she was being abused.

Pay for play that is the story of Dr. Cottam. She will do EXACTLY what attorneys tell her to do. I had hired her at the recommendation of my attorney prior to my child custody hearing. Dr. Cottam repeatably advised me that I was a victim to my ex and my own children. At the time, I believed her. Now three years later, I have no relationship with my children who have now all grown and moved out of the home. I am so ashamed of myself that I allowed Dr. Cottam to be a part of my life. Stay away!

I am surprised that she has not lost her license to practice. My lawyer recommended that I meet with her and gave me an overview of how the sessions would go. I am not interested in receiving mock-therapy for money and testimony. She is not ethical. It's time someone called her out on this. Gives me a bad feeling just thinking about it. No thank you.
