I brought my child in with a cold. Since she had a history a of bronchiolitis with one bout of pneumonia, so I wanted to take precaution. I expected a steroid and MAYBE an antibiotic. This woman took advantage of my fear from past experience and forced me to take my baby to the hospital (refused to give me the meds she really needed) and told me she was “100% sure she had pneumonia” and boasted about her past experience in pediatric ERs. Despite my child’s good pulse ox, no vomiting, no fever, steady heart rate, her response to an inhaler and my explanation of her happy disposition earlier in the day, she would not listen to me. She had a cold with reactive airway disease. She’s a young kid that needs an inhaler and a steroid when a bad cold hits. That’s it. We spent 6 long, expensive, unnecessary hours in the ER to get…A STEROID!! She did NOT have pneumonia. This woman needs to stay in her lane, she’s not ER doctor and she should stop handing out false diagnoses.
