Dr. John McPherrin, PSY.D

I saw this guy when I was a student of the college, and he basically made me feel my problems weren't real. He normalized everything about my concerns, saying they are things that everybody deals with. While he may be right to some extent, that line of reasoning isn't the best in individualized therapy. He made me feel like he thought I was just trying to get attention or something. He helped put me in a place of imposter syndrome when it comes to mental health concerns. On top of this, he would get visibly nervous during our discussions when topics became sensitive. Isn't this what you are here for?Luckily, later in life I saw a therapist that actually heard me out and recognized my struggles. I have since healed, but it was in spite of this guy. I am sad to see he is still on staff at the university, where I am sure he is doing more harm than good.
