Dr Barras performs evaluations for insurance companies for profit. After reading the evaluation the ins co sent to me i found several discrepancies in his eval. Really dont recommend drs who support insurance co in securing an adverse decision. Beware if you are sent to him by a third party.

I have mixed feelings about Dr. Barras. I do think he is capable and knowledgeable. But he is also arrogant and condescending. I was particularly frustrated that he frequently cuts you off abruptly when you are trying to make a point or communicate your thoughts. The implication is “I’m the medical professional here and your opinion is of no value.” I realize he needs to keep the discussion on track, but there was too much of that kind of interruption.

When I mentioned to my primary care physician, that I was noticing my husband seemed to have issues with his memory, she recommended I make an appointment with Dr Barras for a consultation. When Alzheimer’s was confirmed, Dr Barras became the lifeline for keeping my sanity. He has a wealth of information for a caregiver. He helped me anticipate the stages of the disease, was knowledgeable of the medications available and helped me face the fact that there was no cure and it was a progressive disease. When my husband’s life ended, it was Dr Barras’ care and counsel that got me through me losing the love of my life. It has been the worst year of my life, but I cannot imagine how I would be if I did not have Dr Barras to guide me and assist me in handling my grief.

Although I was initially hesitant about meeting with and taking a test recommended for me by another doctor who referred me to Dr Barras, I found him extremely professional, easy to talk to, and the experience with him an extremely positive one. MC

My experience with Dr. Barras was very negative. I was required to have him give me a fitness for duty exam by my place of employment. He is hired to find something wrong with you making difficult to return to work. WARNING tell him only what you want him to know. An employer can use his report to fire you or make it unreasonable to return to work.
