Jusleine Daniel, LCSW

I've been treating my anxiety and depression disorders at Jusleine's clinic for a while now. What I like about her approach is that she guides and encourages me to think on my own about possible avenues (strategies for positive thinking, changing behavior, courses of action when in crisis, etc) for constructive change. By learning techniques that I can apply on my own outside the clinic I feel empowered to gradually recover. I like her personnel can provide services in Spanish as well, showing cultural competence for Latin American immigrants.

She might be a great therapist for you if you are a Christian, from a Western cultural background, and/or interested in CBT and mindfulness. However, she was not really engaged in what I thought and just kept encouraging me to lead the session instead of properly responding and helping me think through issues. She would attribute everything to my religious and cultural background and tell me it was an "acquired" trait. She's also not the right therapist for anyone who tends to overthink or who is interested in learning more about their own cognitive processes. Additionally, she ended one session 15 minutes early (at the 40 minute mark) and had spent the whole time going through a PowerPoint about different emotions (typos abound). This practice is just not culturally competent--they never got my name right (even though the spelling is RIGHT there via email) and didn't seem to care or want to change their method to suit the patient's needs.
