Karla Townsend, LPC

Karla was not a good fit for me. She tended to talk about her children during my session, and in our first meeting commented “You’re just like my son…” I don’t think she knew me well enough after a few minutes to determine this, nor was it relevant or professional. I’d rather the hour I pay for be spent focusing on me, not on listening to stories of her children. Also, she pushes Prozac as a “standard”, and when my medical doctor refused to prescribe it, cautioning against the use of such a strong medication for adolescents, whose brains haven’t finished developing, Karla scoffed at this as if it were outrageous, although she is not a medical doctor nor a doctor of psychology. She was not comfortable for me to work with. I switched to a therapist who is a much better fit for me, and who hears me.
