Compassionate and knowledgeable
We deeply appreciated the supportive front desk help (over the phone and in-person) and the efficient but thorough and thoughtful care shown to us by our provider Kathryn Stocking and the nurse. Kathryn even followed up with us the next day. It was a fairly scary and potentially ER-worthy situation a few evenings ago, but my partner is doing much better already and we thank you again very much for your help!!

Dismissive
I went to AFC urgent care for a hurt finger thinking I sprained it. Being newly postpartum it made sense because of the hormone relaxin - So prone to more injuries. I went there and saw Kathryn and at first she said we’re going to do an X-ray which I thought was pointless because if it was sprained you can’t see those on X-rays. When she came back in the room she told me she thinks it’s infected?! I don’t know how I went there for a possible sprained finger to now it being infected. I asked her twice but could it possibly be a sprained finger? And she wrote it off the two times. It went from her thinking it’s not Gout to it being septic?! If she thought it was septic then why wasn’t I offered a blood draw to see if I had an infection then. She told me to go to ER. Getting a blood draw would have saved me from going to the ER. So I spend my day at urgent care to be sent to the ER. On a different day I went to an actual bone doctor to be told it was NOT infected.

Honestly gobsmacked
I have had the misfortune of seeing Kathryn first as walk in, and then a second time - at another branch of AFC! - on a follow up visit. Kathryn showed zero interest in attempting to understand my problem and even take a minute to have a thought re a diagnosis. She was dismissive and unsympathetic, she barely listened when I said I had a huge bruise, and then proceeded to essentially tell me that 'as there had been no trauma (umm, the bruise??), my pain did not warrant any further investigation' I had hoped I would have a better experience with another person at another branch, but as it was Kathryn again, all it served to do was reinforce my initial opinion of this PA. As an Australian in America, I am unfamiliar with the whole concept of a 'Physicians Assistant' and frankly would prefer to see an actual practising medical doctor with an actual medical degree.
