Dr. Leigh Berry, PHD

Dr. Berry based her treatment of our child on misinformation she received from my ex-spouse - this was extremely emotionally harmful and detrimental to our child. Dr. Berry believed my ex-spouse without talking to me or even trying to include me in the process of getting help for our child - despite the fact that I was the parent who was fighting to get help for our child. My ex-spouse refused to allow me to bring our child to a counselor, therapist or child psychologist; so I asked our Guardian ad Litem to help. I was finally able to get our child evaluated (I was told where I should go). Our child would not have been with Dr. Berry had I not fought to have him evaluated for the behavioral concerns I was observing. When I was finally able to talk with Dr. Berry in person (I had to initiate the meeting), she did not seem to believe the information I shared with her and she said that I was being dramatic. She mocked me and was condescending. Even when she received a document written on my behalf, from a forensic psychologist she said she highly respected, she still treated me like a “lesser parent” and continued to base our child’s treatment approach on the false information provided by my ex-spouse. Dr. Berry filled our child’s head with the same false information my ex-spouse filled his head with. I had to try and undo so much emotional damage. Additionally, Dr. Berry had been included in our court decree as the psychologist our child was to continue to see - individually, and with me to help rebuild our relationship and bond. These sessions were to be paid for by my ex-spouse. After only a few sessions, he refused to bring our child or to pay for the sessions - even though it was court ordered in the decree. I told Dr. Berry I would bring our child to the sessions and pay for the sessions myself. She refused to see us, stating that she didn’t want to get involved in court issues.
