Dr. Lisa Backus, PSY.D

Lisa is sincerely a wonderful person. It didn’t take long for me to feel comfortable enough to speak to her as if I was talking to a close friend. That is, she laughs when I laugh. She makes me feel seen when I want to be felt seen. I feel supported and never judged. In addition to “feeling like I’m talking to a close friend”, I feel comfortable approaching topics I wouldn’t feel safe even addressing with friends. Often I’m not sure what I’m working through, and Lisa is always patient, asking the right questions to guide me in the correct direction. If I were to pinpoint one quality that I find incredibly valuable during sessions, it would be the lack of judgment. The feeling of judgment is something that, although I might be sensitive to, I’ve found very offputting with other therapists. I have never felt judged or shameful in response to a facial expression or verbal response from Lisa. I cannot recommend her services enough.
