My mother and I went to see Lori hoping to restore a relationship. Over time, it became clear that Lori was getting emotionally attached to my mother, crying when she would cry and defending her actions, but never giving me the same sympathy. Thinking she would never do this on purpose, I confronted the issue and asked her to also help me feel safe to express myself. Unfortunately, the issue continued to get worse, and when I tried to address it for a second time, she told me that was sorry for me that I had such severe validations issues and that I needed to learn to get validation within myself instead of from her. I decided it best go and find another counselor who was willing to hear both parties out. She may be great in other situations but she wasn't the right fit for us. I am giving her 2 stars because she did give us a homework assignment that helped my mother and I move forward and communicate hopes and expectations.

I was dropped by Lori without explanation and without violating any policies or procedures. I guess she felt she couldn't help me any further. It still bothers me now, five or so years later. I had trust issues to begin with and questioned her trustworthiness as I heard her discuss other clients, and my concerns were later confirmed. I would not recommend her.
