Bad
She gave me advice that resulted in my humiliation - for example, she encouraged me to write a letter to a man who was rejecting me in a humiliating manner - to 'find out' his intentions. His intentions were already clear! There was no need for a letter, except to degrade me. And when he first responded positively, she seemed surprised, which makes no sense if her intentions were good. And then he got violent and when I told her, she blamed me. I think she steered me into situations to humiliate and degrade me - which is awful, given she is a therapist and should look out for her patient's best interest.

I'm very surprised by some of the comments here since I have had such a different and positive experience, and so I feel compelled to write. She may seem busy, but I would attribute that to her being so good and having many people wanting to see her. She is very prompt and responsive, especially in emergencies. Dr. Brown has been an insightful and supportive therapist. I have only seen 2 other therapists in my life, but she has been a great listener and offered concrete advise.

It is hard for me to write a review that can be posted - let’s just say I was in a sexual encounter that suddenly turned violent, against my will, and she simply did not believe me because I had already been involved with this man. I even told her about my subsequent physical injury and she still made me feel I was equally to blame. I felt she sympathized way too much with him and did not listen to me or respect my feelings. She also made insensitive remarks in an attempt to make light of or a joke out of the incident. I was very messed up after this experience for a very long time.

Dr Brown does not listen well - she has very strong opinions and then she changes her mind a lot - she does not ask her patient what the patient thinks. She also asks the patient to 'understand' or 'self-blame' too much - she herself is very assertive but does not help the patient become more assertive. I had a negative relationship with a man and when I first asked Dr Brown, she wanted me to 'understand' him, then she said maybe 'he did not like me enough that way', - never once did she say - just walk off and you don't have to feel bad he treats you poorly. Meanwhile, she is extremely assertive about anyone who offends her. And I know this because she talked about herself waaay too much. She has a condescending attitude towards her patients and I think she is very egotistical. She also does not think rules apply to her - I noticed some odd behavior with her billing practices, as an example.

I've decided to move on after two sessions. Dr. Brown left her phone on during our session, which vibrated constantly, and multiple times in each session she would read and text on her phone. It felt pretty unprofessional to me. She also wasn't very talkative, even after I finished a longer story (although I see from others she may be tired at the end of the day). She seems kind and down-to-earth in general.

Dr. Brown was responsive and seemed nice when I scheduled my first appointment with her. However, it soon became startlingly clear that she was was not going to be much help as a therapist. Throughout my few visits with her, she was often distracted by something: figuring out how to get her printer to work, looking at something on her laptop, talking about herself a bit too much--or worse, not saying anything at all. I never got the impression that she wanted to work with me to improve myself.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Brown. She was very distracted and detached during our sessions and did not seem to appreciate the severity of my mental health issue at the time. I ended up switching to a much better practitioner.

Dr. Brown has been incredibly supportive. I'm an international student and I started seeing her two years ago and have had a great experience. She's old-school but very non-judgemental and caring.

Horrible experience - She does not really listen - does her paperwork during the session. Always late. Doesn't really respond well. Says inappropriate things.
