I was a patient of Dr. Clawson’s in the 1980’s. She walked with me through bulimia as a college student and beyond. The thing I remember most is that she showed me that there were reasons I suffered from that disorder. It wasn’t that I was a bad person. This month I celebrate 33 years since I binged and vomited for the last time. I have learned in recent years that it is a hard thing to overcome and that some aren’t able to. I am seeing a counselor now for some issues, and she asked me to counterbalance regret for the damage done to my body as a result of bulimia with gratitude for my recovery and relatively good health today! As I reflected after today’s session, I decided to look up Dr. Clawson’s information and feel so blessed to have found it. And to learn that she continues to help others.
