Dr. Lynn Owens, PSY.D

I spent several years with Dr. Owens until I moved to NC. My work with her was life altering. I moved to a position of strength and health. She helped me to get to a psychiatrist for medication when I couldn't do it myself. She was never pushy but stated what she thought. I was free to agree or disagree with her. I felt like she really cared about me. Six years later, I still miss our sessions. She was a great listener, remembered what we discussed and was a partner in my healing. She never came across as the 'know it all expert' like some other doctors I have had. She led, but I had to do the work. And for that, I am grateful.

She was friendly but her handling of a true misunderstanding was appalling. Immediately jumped to conclusions without asking for clarification. I showed her a landscape painting by a dictator which had gone viral between our appointments. The painting had upset me, so I showed her. She deemed it an epitaph and fired me because showing it to her was, according to her, a showing a strength threatening her… Filed a complaint against her for it

Dr. Owens is a great therapist. After trying a few over the years, she has been the absolute best in helping guide me towards better mental health with myself and with others around me. She is always on time to our appointments, gives me an incredible outlook on situations I wouldnt have otherwise.

Often controlling and directive Opinionated Overstates competence

We met with Dr. Owens once last year and she not only blew us off, and verbally abused my husband with a presumptive, judgemental diagnosis in just 20 minutes before she stated that she refused to work with us, and then guilted me for not being stronger. We were stunned, and his anxious mental state of self hate further deteriorated after that visit, and my struggles with guilt were worsened. That 20 minute visit left us both in significantly worse states of mind that took weeks to begin to recover from (with our individual counselors to help), and it was hazardous to our health, careless, uncompassionate, and wholly irresponsible as a mental health care provider to make deep, accusing assumptions from nearly no information, verbally abuse them, and then leave people like that.

I cannot believe how much Dr. Owens has helped me to work through my issues. I feel that I learn something new each time I am there. She is always available and is very good at explaining concepts in relation to my experiences. I honestly cannot recommend her strongly enough!
