Was seen at Exodus MLK. She diagnosed me with bipolar disorder. I told her my history. She tried to tell me that an event did not happen because of voices in my head. She asked if I talk to myself in my head. I wasn’t sure what she meant. I do when I think, I said yes. For what ever reason, she was adamant about diagnosing me with bipolar because insurance would cover the medication…. The insurance didn’t. And now I have a bipolar diagnosis and I don’t think I’m bipolar. I did NOT like how she tried to create her own narrative of my life as if she knew my history in their charts and she didn’t. I do NOT like her as a nurse practitioner. She asked what could they do to help me, I told her I wanted to talk to a therapist and she didn’t even do that. I went there for a bipolar diagnosis? And medication that didn’t even get covered? Now I have to go get another opinion. Her evaluation of me felt biased.
