Maria Estes, LMHC

I’ve been seeing Ms. Maria for 2 years now. Excellent therapist. Exceptional with children. She’s thoughtful and insightful. Our sessions help me overcome daily stress and anxiety, including trauma. It can be quite challenging to find a therapist fit for you, but, once I saw her I immediately felt like it was a safe space and I believe this is one of the key aspects of finding a reputable therapists/counselor. Someone who listens to understand. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Maria is very nice and was accommodating, but I did not like my experience with her for a few reasons. First, when I signed up, she had me meet her in a park and I could see other people who were filling out paperwork as well. I don’t want to see other patients or have them see me. She was very nice, but I didn’t feel comfortable from the start. Second, she spent a majority of our first appointment talking rather than listening. I believe there’s an 80/20 rule in therapy for patients to talk 80% of the time? Something like that. She totally took over and started rambling about her experience with certain groups of people in the past. I didn’t care and had to sit there and listen as the clock ticked. Lastly, I didn’t feel like she was interested in building a foundation, she was more interested in getting business, making recommendations, and moving on. At least that’s how it seemed. I wouldn’t recommend her as a therapist. Unfortunately, she totally missed the mark for me.

An excellent good-hearted, professional who made a difference in our lives when she provided family and couple therapy. The treatment was effective and has made a difference in our lives. Thank You!

Mrs. Estes is an amazing therapist. She makes me feel like I am being heard and increased my self worth. My depression has gotten better since I started seeing her. Highly recommend her services.

I've been seeing Maria Estes for 9 years now and she has consistently helped me through any difficulties I come across. She is very patient, kind, and easily accessible.

I was a patient with Maria for about a month. Her sessions were of some help and she gave good advice. Just last week we were unable to meet for a session, and when I asked if we could reschedule to meet the next day she said that she would reach out to me later in the week to reschedule. She said this on a Tuesday. Come Friday, absolutely no word. The following Monday nothing. Tuesday ( one week from when she said she would reschedule with me) I texted her how I felt that this was unprofessional and inconsiderate, and still NO RESPONSE! Any respectable professional should stick to their word especially in the field of mental health. Would not recommend.

Excellent counselor, if not the best in Tampa. Maria is understanding, knowledgeable, genuine and always available. Thanks to her I have gotten better. She has gone above and beyond the call of duty in order to seek long term improvements on my health. I could not be more thankful to her.
