Absolutely Awful
I went to see Maria Lasaga to address my recurring depression. There were signs popping back up after a bad breakup, and I wanted to get ahead of “crisis mode.” I told her how these signs were appearing and how I wanted to work on strategies to mitigate and handle negative and ruminating thoughts. She told me my coming in was like saying, “You used to get stomachaches and now are coming in even though you don’t get stomachaches anymore.” She told me she couldn’t do anything for me, that I was seeking support unnecessarily, and sent me away after 20 minutes.

Meeting with someone of her profession is a vulnerable thing to do, and she is not the person to see. The feedback I got from her was "there's nothing wrong with you," while she minimized the struggles I was having telling me to basically pull myself up by my boot straps. I was trying to continue what I was working on with my previous therapist and she just told me "I'm not a life coach." Yes, maybe I need to see someone else, but I didn't need to hear the rude words that were coming from her mouth.

I was truly disgusted at her style of counseling. She minimized my concerns with suicidal thoughts and depression/anxiety and actually shamed me. I left my appointment so incredibly outraged and in true disbelief at her advice, or really the lack thereof. Please think twice about seeking mental health advice from this woman. I would strongly advise against it.

I have seen many psychologists in my lifetime and she is by far the worst. I am shocked at her behaviour and "advice." She shouted at me multiple times and somehow thought the situations I am going through were not abuse and they most certainly are. I am so upset to have even seen this woman. I would be in a better place if I have not seen her.
