Worst experience ever. It has been a nightmare trying to get my son seen for an ADHD evaluation. My son was initially seen on 07/20/23 by Mary Edem. She requested for him to be seen in person for a diagnosis a month after. Prior to the second appointment, she wanted for me to have some Vanderbilt forms completed by his teacher. I called multiple times to get the forms emailed to me. However, the office staff was incompetent and failed to send me the forms like how they said. Two days before the appointment I called again and requested them, and I did not receive them. I was told that my appointment would have to be canceled because no forms were completed. My son’s appointment had to be rescheduled. I got a new appointment date, and the day of the appointment date I received a call that she’s not available and therefore my appointment needs to be rescheduled to a virtual appointment. I explained to the staff that Dr. Edem specifically wants to see him in person, and that it cannot be virtual. Then they scheduled me again, and I was okay with the new date. Then again, I received a call from the receptionist again that my appointment has to be switched to a different provider and that it’ll be in person to look out for an email to confirm the new changes. I was waiting for the email and did not receive anything. My appointment is today so I called to inform the receptionist that I had not received an email with the new changes. Then I was told that there are no notes on the chart to indicate that the appointment was changed to a different provider that the appointment is still scheduled for today virtually. I’m appalled by the way everything has been handled. It’s been almost two months and the appointments have been rescheduled over 5 times due to the staff not scheduling the appointments properly to avoid these issues. I decided to take my son to a different facility.

Rude and Unhelpful
I was referred to Mary Edem by Kaiser for an ADHD evaluation. Ms. Edem insisted on treating me for depression and anxiety and if I was still struggling with ADHD symptoms we could look into testing. At my follow up appointment, I told her I was still having problems with focus and inattention and she told me her office does not do ADHD testing and I need to go back to Kaiser for that. I don’t know why she didn’t tell me that the first time and instead prescribed me antidepressants but it all feels like a big waste of time. Further, she is not supportive of breastfeeding mothers taking any antidepressant/anti anxiety medication, and does not consider a cost/benefit when weighing the potential risks to the nursing child. She told me plainly I could not take the antidepressant she prescribed and I would have to wean; I got a second opinion from my primary care doctor who said risks were minimal given my situation (older child nursing only at night)
