I met with Mattie to discuss concerns with my Mirena IUD and the side effects that I have experienced. I was shamed by her that I would even consider not sticking with my Mirena IUD and alluded that the only other option I had was involuntarily getting pregnant like many of her other patients. I told her that I recognized the positives of Mirena, but there were also concerns that I had regarding my menstrual cycle and a possibility of endometriosis. She told me she had no idea if I had endometriosis and they only test women who are having trouble with infertility. She got visibly angry with me because she was confused about my concerns because she did not listen to them whatsoever. It was clear that my concerns were against her recommendation and she did not like that. Then, she stormed out of the room. I will not be seeing her again, nor do I recommend her if you have questions about IUDs. The OBGYNs that I have seen at this practice have been very helpful, so I was shocked by this.

Mattie is my favorite midwife at Ochsner’s ABC. She really takes the time to get to know you and make sure all of your concerns are covered. I 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, gentle, midwife in New Orleans!
