My son got a referral to see Michelle Thoen for a “diagnosis”(I put this in parenthesis bc that’s what we were supposed to come out of this with and didn’t). My sons first appt was scheduled for 10/14/2020, with a series of appts scheduled after. 10/28/2020 she text me at 9PM telling me she didn’t have child care for the following day(which my son had a scheduled appt for). She switched this appt to a zoom call and told me that I could not be present while she was on this zoom call with him. 11/2/2020 I messaged her confirming that my sons appt would be at the office because I called and left a message that was never returned. She confirmed it would be. 11/10/2020 she messaged me that she may need to reschedule due to weather, told me it was sleeting in osceola and asked me what I wanted to do. The weather was NOT bad and I decided to keep the appt in office. 11/18/2020 she messaged me to set an appt to go over the findings of her “diagnosis”, we set appt for 12/4/2020, she asked me not to bring my son to. That appointment concluded and she told me she would be emailing me the report she wrote in 2-3 weeks. My cousin had taken her son to see Michelle and told me that it took over a month to get a report back. I figured she was busy, so I gave her some time. 1/28/2021(over a month and a half later) I messaged Michelle asking about my sons report. No response. 2/1/2021 I sent another message. This is the message I got in return the following day “ Good morning! I left you a message and never heard back so I closed his file. Let me check and get back to you”. I NEVER got a call or text or email from her, trust me, I had been waiting patiently and keeping a close eye on my phone. I responded to her message on 2/1/2021, 2/2/2021, 2/3/2021 and finally got a response 2/4/2021 when she FINALLY sent me his “report” that was anything but a diagnosis, it was basically a report of numbers from his questioning, questioning of his teachers, and from me. There was zero diagnosis in this report, really just speculation of what “it could be”. Everytime we saw her in office, she was wearing slippers and asking pre-prepared questions from an iPad, the service she provided my son was a set of questions that was provided for her(honestly comparable to the old school days when you took a quiz in a magazine). I was completely unimpressed to say the least. I was thankful that I was done dealing with her services at this point and chalked it up to a lost cause. Fast forward to 12/30/2021 (note: my son has not seen this woman for over a year at this point) I get a text message from her that says this: Hi it's Michelle. My son broke his wrist snowboarding and meets with a specialist tomorrow for possible surgery. Not sure they will do it the same day but it was a bad break. So please check your messages before you come in in case I need to cancel. Thanks! I responded and told her that she must have the wrong person and that my son hadn’t seen her in over a year, she tried to argue that we had just rescheduled an appt from Tuesday ??? I would 100% never ever recommend anyone to her, what an absolute waste of time, and she has excuse after excuse while she tends to her own life, not providing the services she has been paid to provide timely or professionally. I have spoken with many people that have had similar or worse experiences. If you get a referral to see this woman, get a second opinion ASAP.

I’ve been working with Michelle Thoen for years! She is amazing!!! I don’t know what all these negative reviews are about! She listens incredibly well and has helped me through some extremely difficult life situations. She aided me in getting a diagnosis and the medical support I needed. She has even been flexible through covid with telehealth appointments. I’ve never had a kind and caring, compassionate therapist like her before. She has helped me turn my life around.
