Booked a appointment with Miri Mee a week in advanced, she apparently got sick and canceled a day before the appointment, which I understand things like this happen from time to time. I received an email as quoted "Good morning. This is Miri Mee , you scheduled an appointment on line, unfortunately I got sick with Covid and can’t meet this week. Miri" I thought it was weird that she never mentioned anything regarding with rescheduling or any time frame when she would be available. I thought it was very unprofessional of her, so I decided to look her up online and noticed all the negative reviews. I thought to myself maybe I just dodged a headache and was a bit upset at myself I didn't do my research in the first place when selecting a good therapist.

My first appointment was made to discuss my struggles with my father I haven't spoken to in over half a year. Most of the appointment she talked more than I did. She went on tangents about little things like what my husband does for work and what he should do to make his career better, etc. I finally got to start talking about my dad and without possibly knowing the complexities of our family and our history she bulldozed me at the end of the appointment into calling my dad with her on the line this week. I agreed because I was so caught off guard but now that I've had time to digest it, it was too quick and not at all my decision to make this move. I cancelled any further appointments.

Judgmental, Rude, and Unempathetic
I told this woman I am struggling to keep up with my school work because I have severe depression and I spend most of my day sleeping. I specifically told her I would like to focus on looking for strategies to help me become a better student. In return, she said I'm clearly not passionate enough to peruse higher education, and immediately told me that I should quit school, because obviously I am not cut out for the career that I have chosen. I swear to God, that was her exact advice to me. I wish I was making this up. It's like she's never heard of what the side effects of depression are, or she didn't believe that my depression was a good enough excuse for me to struggle with school work. Every question she asked was very blunt, she never reflected on what I said, and she gave me zero reassurance. She just quickly asked me question after question like I was being interrogated. She overall just appeared to be very disgusted by me and she clearly looked down on me.

I saw Miri during a very painful and traumatic experience after my father's death. She often interrupted me to share her own experience (implying hers was worse), minimized my feelings, criticized the way my family grieved, and caused me great concern when she said the symptoms of my anxiety attacks could be indicative of schizophrenia (I later saw a psychiatrist who assured me they weren't). It took all my strength to share some of this feedback with her at my second visit and clarify what I was looking for, and unfortunately saw no change. This was a very upsetting situation for me during a time of vulnerability, and I found her "treatment" to be irresponsible at best and emotionally distressing at worst.

I called two weeks ago to try and set up an appt. She sent me a text the same day asking what insurance I had. I responded immediately, but never heard from her again.

I spent the first 15 minutes of the appointment filling out extensive paperwork with questions that I found to be unnecessary and a bit invasive. I don't see how my medications and drs are relevant to the counseling I want. Miri spent no longer than 20 minutes with me before she said our time was up. It was not a healing experience and I do not plan to go back. I felt judged and pitied by Miri about my chronic illnesses. She was not warm and welcoming and was not an easy person to talk to. I don't know why she chose this line of work if she doesn't practice compassion for others. I will not be going back.

I visited Miri Mee 3 times with my spouse and 1 time without. I found her to be money centric, opinionated and mediocre albeit forthright. She managed to give prescription drug advice without an MD, legal advice without passing the bar and spent 10 minutes of every 50 minute hour talking about herself.

Miri was upfront and candid. Her advice was excellent and to the point. I would highly recommend her to anyone going through a family custody issue. Her knowledge of CPS and experience with families going through family court was invaluable. She listens and is brutally honest about your options and responsibilities. This was especially helpful to me as a parent fighting an uphill battle in family court over custody issues, and someone without therapy experience or family court experience.
