Dr. Nelson Dorta, PHD

Great! He tested my son years back and was very helpful in figuring out what type of LD he had that was stumping the school and getting him the help he needed. He is doing great now in part because of Dr. Dorta's diagnosis plan. He recently saw my daughter and figured out she doesn't have ADD but is anxious. She isn't easy and he did a great job helping her feel comfortable so she could share all her worries and some other things. We also started to treat the ADD and thank god we saw him to check.

He was very nice but professional like any doctor and definitely nothing weird as the other reviewer suggested. My son wanted to come back to play baseball with him. Definitely helped us figure out the diagnosis and gave us a detailed plan not just medication like another doctor we saw. The school also totally did what he wrote which was again a problem with another doctor we saw. My only complaint is it took like 3 weeks to get an appointment.

Definitely condescending! Actually told me, the mom to stop talking! He made my son Feel very uncomfortable when he would touch his shoulder and say,” it’s ok baby”! LISTEN to your children!!! You are the best evaluator and know better!! Always ask your children about the visit and NEVER leave your child alone!

He is considered the best neuropsychologist in WestChester /Manhattan by our pediatrician group. He was caring and thorough and helped us greatly with our son with Autism. I can’t recommend him highly enough

One of those doctors who clearly does not care - just wants your money. Dorta saw out daughter for an eval and couldnt get paid fast enough. He seemed bothered by our questions, was rude to my wife (treated her as if she was an idiot) and told us that he "didnt remember her" when we asked for her report a few months later. Spend your thousands of dollars elsewhere.

Absolutely horrible professional. He is condescending and unprofessional but unfortunately we were thousands of dollars into an evaluation. I kept my opinions to myself because I said to myself that it wasn’t about me but about my kid. I’ve never been talked down to by someone the way he spoke to me (and I’m a professional holding an advanced degree). His report was not useful for the teachers and when we asked him to clarify the report he said “teachers can’t read it anyway”. It was only once he gave us his recommendation that we realized we had to take it to a medical professional to implement/start all over and this is where he was a sham to my mind. He told us that pediatricians can implement his plan when in hindsight he knew well it wasn’t the case. It was clear to me that he got compensated already so his job was done and ours just started.

Dr Dorta was wonderful. He gently tested my daughter, he was patient and understanding. He explained every test and finding with us. Guided us through a confusing time in our lives. We were emotional and frightened for our daughters future. He retested her four years later and she is a different child. We are amazed at the success she has found personally and academically and we are proud of ourselves for overcoming our fears about medications and labels.
