$3000 wasted
I took my 9 year old to Dr. Wyckoff for a neuropsych eval due to my concerns with his reading fluency, specifically as it relates to rapid naming. Dr Wyckoff assessed my son's reading using the WIAT and WJIV and used the results to conclude that he did not have a reading disability or dyslexia, even though none of her tests assessed rapid naming. She stated conclusively in my son's report that he did not have dyslexia. She attributed the fact that he had previously scored in the 1st percentile on the RAN RAS and had a CTOPP Rapid Symbolic Naming Composite in the 8th percentile to attentional issues. When I asked her to soften her language around dyslexia, as I strongly felt it would put up a barrier for my son going forward, she refused. When I pushed even further to ask that she just add language around there being no concerns with his phonological awareness and reading accuracy, which I agreed with, she refused. As a result, I did not give her evaluation to the school. $3000 wasted.
