Dr. Phillip Apfel, OD

Wrong prescription. Got defensive and dismissive when questioned.

I have been going to Dr. Apfel for years. He not only has provided great service and prescriptions for my glasses, but also saw me asap when I started having issues with my eyes during the holiday years ago and referred me to CEI as an urgent patient. His quick response helped get me in touch with a retinal surgeon so when my retina did detach, I had the best team ready to fix it. He has been monitoring my eyes regularly every since and took extra care and time to prescribe the best lenses/options for my glasses each year for my delicate eyes and vision until my eyes were finished healing/changing which is a slow process. He is very devoted to his patients, answers all of my questions, explains everything thoroughly, reviews my patient records to make sure he is assisting me in the best way possible. I would recommend him to anyone. He's an expert and also helps with my glaucoma. It's great when you have a doctor you can really trust.

My family & I have been clients of Oakley Square Eye Associates for over four years. I was seen by Dr. Phillip Apfel in the office for a routine eye exam & contact prescription renewal on Tuesday, 12/8/2020 at 2:15 pm. It was his last appointment of the day. This was not an emergency appointment and certainly could have been rescheduled. Although at the time I made my appointment, I was told that if I did not have this exam, my contact prescription could not be verified & would not be able to re-order contacts. On Wednesday, 12/9/2020, I received a voicemail stating that Dr. Apfel had been "randomly" tested for COVID-19 & although he was not experiencing any symptoms, did test positive. According to the voicemail received, "he was not experiencing any symptoms & was just randomly tested. Should I have any questions or concerns, please call the office." Seven days later, the entire office is still closed. There is not one person (i.e., office manager, office staff, partnering eye

Wouldnt go anywhere else.
