He was awful. He basically role played like he was in the military. He says whatever he's being paid to say. In my experience he offered a way for abusive parents to weaponize therapy on their kids. I'm not anti-therapist, there are many good ones. Ray is not of this breed.

Over two years ago, Raymond Messer "diagnosed" my (then eight-year-old) granddaughter as having reactive attachment disorder (RAD). This "diagnosis" resulted in my daughter and son-in-law seriously considering a disruption of her adoption and subsequent placement with the state. In lieu of that, we took custody of our granddaughter almost two years ago. Since then, she has never--not once--exhibited any behaviors even remotely suggesting RAD. She is a loving child who just needs time to overcome the circumstances of her early childhood (abandoned and then warehoused in a state orphanage in China). Messer also told our daughter and her other children that our granddaughter has no conscience. We have found that she has a good grasp of right and wrong. With love and attention, she has thrived in our community as a sweet and caring young lady who is loved by literally everyone who come into contact with her.

Ray has been great for myself and my son. He provides a good framework to understand anger as a function of powerlessness - good guy who will call your BS when he see's it.
