The time I have spent working on myself with ,Dr.Milan Jr has been an extraordinary process. I am someone who is hesitant about spending time with a complete stranger exploring who I am or why I wanted to find the me I lost ... Being a skeptical person it did surprise me by spending weekly visits with,Dr.Milan Jr. uncovered my heart, revealed what I lost , and acknowledging how I let myself die inside. Dr.Milan Jr., gave me tools to help me work on finding myself again. My gratitude towards ,Dr.Milan Jr’s skills on listening and respectfully leaving it up to me on making a follow up appointment gave me the power to also decide what I needed. I never thought 34 weeks would slip away so fast , but I’m not the mess I was 38 weeks ago when I called for my first appointment with , Dr. Richard Milan Jr., PHD.

Dr. Milan’s gifts as a psychotherapist provided bedrock support and invaluable insights during a prolonged period of heartache I endured a few years ago. I’ve continued to see him from time to time since then. I always come away from sessions grateful for Dr. Milan's ability to be fully present, to listen without judgment and to offer alternative ways to think about the problems I allow to beset me. He’s also got a sense of humor! Gifted therapists are rare. Rick Milan is one of them. D.A., Roanoke, December 2020

If Dr. Milan saw a person/couple for the first time, he needed to gather information. Psychology and relationships are a step-by-step process and there is not a cure overnight. Anyone who feels Dr. Milan has not done his job, then I would suggest they express it directly to him and he will listen and apologize if necessary. However, he must gather background information prior to helping anyone. This process in psychology of gathering background information is not a one session process. It takes time. Dr. Milan is a professional and good man who ultimately wants the best for his patients.

Dr. Milan let my partner and I tear each other apart for an hour, and now we are in worse shape than we were before. We came in, hoping for some options on how to repair issues, but with Dr. Milan pitting us against each other, we were worse off. He also seemed spaced out and didn't clearly understand what we were saying. In the end, when we asked if he had any solutions, he simply said, "Well, I'd love to see you again. We're over time now." My partner and I could have argued at home for free.
