Robbert Schalekamp, LMFT

I don’t agree with some reviews here. Dr Schalekamp is a good psychologist. In fact, after years of doing counseling for myself and marriage counseling with other therapist I could understand what I went through with my marriage. And why I fell in depression. My husband left counseling before the time. Dr Schalekamp tried to help us very much. In fact I risk my emotional health when I returned to live with him later on. The beginning of this period went well because for the first time in years I knew what I was dealing with. But when I had to live with physical challenges was even harder. It wasn’t the therapist fault the cause of the fail to save our marriage. People need to acknowledge their own problems and work from there.

Dr. Schalekamp is smart and considerate, but he's not a family man himself, and he seems less concerned about saving marriages, and more concerned about keeping patients by telling them what they want to hear. After many months of counseling, Robbert certainly didn't do my wife and me any good. You should probably ask any prospective marriage counselor how long he or she has been married themselves before you trust them with giving advice to rescue your own relationship.
