Robert Thompson, LCSW

I saw Robert Thompson for about 4 years on and off as needed and he is very helpful at redirecting my attentions to useful things and events rather then my perseveration for on the negative. He helps you look at what you can control and change and what is out of your control. He is funny and easy to talk to. He helped me through a very difficult divorce and was very understanding. I haven’t been to therapy in about 2 years but I am looking for him to schedule another session.

The majority of the sessions focused on him and sex. He would self disclose an unnecessary amount and would talk about himself for at least 30minutes collectively. He would start sessions 10-15m late and sometimes end 15m early and he never developed/discussed a treatment plan nor was there anyway to track progress. The worst is how he always steered the conversation toward sexual topics every session. I never got to address the reason I was seeking help and finally decided to drop him after he told me he sleeps naked.

He talked over me, made me feel like i was wrong for not liking or wanting to do a particular set of daily activities he seems to be fond of, he used cuss words, and he mentioned we bit into his lunch time. I went in for help with my trauma and came out feeling even worse. No thank you, i will never return.

When I first began contemplating therapy, I was very apprehensive over talking to a stranger about my problems and issues. Upon our first meeting, Robert Thompson was very open and very easy to talk with. His office setting has a very relaxed atmosphere and the office staff is always polite and well-natured. My appointments are always on time and Robert Thompson always keeps to his schedule ensuring all patients get their allotted time in with him for their visit.
