Dr. Saffrone Emerson, PHD

My family and I attended counseling sessions with Dr. Saffrone for several months. I asked her early on to please probe into what could be the issues and work on them. That never happened. We were never able to explore those issues. My daughter, (who was receiving separate one-on-one counseling from Dr. Saffrone) left home to live with her boyfriend. Soon after this I called Dr. Saffrone and she chided me for what she felt I did wrong. I asked her what I should have done but she never answered this question. I asked Dr. Saffrone if what she was saying is that I should have let my daughter use drugs in our home and do whatever she wanted. She then said, “I am a Christian counselor and you are are putting words in my mouth” and promptly hung up the phone in the middle of this conversation. Hanging up and not continuing the conversation was completely unprofessional and offensive. I am submitting this review as I believe Dr. Saffrone may need some further counseling herself on how to work with families that will help and heal. She was no help to mine.

I cannot say enough good about Dr Saffrone! She is working with my teenage son and he seems happy for the first time in a long time.

Dr. Saffrone violated the HIPPA Act, by contacting non patients, regarding patients and releasing private information. She also created patient/professional relationships with non patients via telephone, violating the privacy of clients she already had. I had no connection to this doctor until she made a phone call to me, creating a patient/professional relationship. She also claims to be Christian counseling on her website, but I can assure you, this is not so. Her methods are more toward Anti-Christian in my opinion. If you are looking for confidentiality, or a Christian counselor, I would definitely NOT recommend her. You should feel safe when you speak to a counselor. You should not have to worry if your information is being shared with others. This is not the case with Dr. Saffrone Emerson.
