Dr. Samara Stevens II, ND

Dr. Stevens is an exceptional doctor, especially in the field of eating disorders. I have been working with her and her team for over a year and have found her to be an expert in her knowledge and understanding. As someone who suffers with anorexia, I appreciate her patience, encouragement and empathy. She sets firm boundaries, but does so with compassion. Her knowledge of psychiatric and other medication is unparalleled to anyone I have been under the care of. She is thorough, data-driven and innovative. I appreciate her care and the respect she has shown me.

Initially, things went well with Dr. S. I will give her the fact that she takes her time and listens well. However, she prescribed me medications for conditions I do not have such as diabetes when I do not have any indication of diabetes-with the intention of weight loss. This detrimentally impacted my recovery from my eating disorder. This is not consistent with the specialty of treating eating disorders which is the population she does work with most frequently as stated on her website. I also received several random charges after my leaving her care that she did not give me time to talk to her about, instead just charged my credit card for one without an invoice that I have no idea what it was for.

Dr Stevens and her staff have been 100% instrumental in helping my teen daughter stabilize and improve her physical and mental health. Prior to finding her, we had a series of unsupportive and judgmental health care people, making an extremely difficult period even worse. Dr Stevens takes the time to listen with the right balance of compassion, support and encouragement for personal responsibility, which is especially important for teens. She is very respectful of the teen patient, and their privacy, while making sure the parent stays informed. She is really smart and well versed in combining conventional and unconventional treatments. Her support staff Alaina Gainge deserves her own shout out too. She’s a gem of a person.

Was looking for a primary care practitioner that was informed in eating disorders and someone recommended her. I couldn't be happier so far. I came in with a laundry list of issues I wanted to address and I was able to get through everything, never feeling rushed or pushed out the door. I was able to get weighed with the option of not knowing my weight (something important for some with eating disorders), and the blood panel I got was very thorough! She even checked a few values that most doctors don't even look at, and those numbers explained some mystery symptoms I was having. If I were to nitpick, I wish her patient portal had more functionality, (somewhere to update and look up medication lists, etc) but overall I have no regrets and will continue to come back.

Incredibly talented physician and a truly invaluable member of one's eating disorder care team. I finally feel like I have a provider who is a true specialist in the field. When discussing medications or reviewing lab results I always feel heard and I actually get logical and sound answers to more in depth questions. She has worked with experts including Dr. Julie O'Toole and Therese Waterhous, RD, and has experience in both Kartini Clinic and Monte Nido, and it shows. Her knowledge of different treatment models is an incredible asset and she is connected with many qualified dietitians and mental health practitioners in the area. Additionally, it is such a breath of fresh air to have a provider who can use modern technology. Plus she has a super cute Italian greyhound in a sweater that gives you hugs when you didn't even realize you needed one! I highly recommend Dr. Stevens as an holistic eating disorder specialist.

An incredibly compassionate and attentive doctor. I feel so blessed to have found her. She has always been very generous with her time during each of my visits, listens to my input and concerns, and even helped me navigate some tricky insurance restrictions. Her knowledge combined with her ability to listen and desire to care for her patients makes her an exceptional doctor and human being. Highly recommend!

scammy. Surprise charges. Refuses to listen to clients about their own health issues then sends invoices for random charges. When trying to reach for clarification or resolution of these charges she refuses to respond to phone calls or messages left. I would be cautious when working with this provider.
