IUD placement & Med maintenance
She tried to forcibly dilate me to manually place an IUD. I have never been pregnant and should have been prescribed a dilation medication before the procedure. It was incredibly painful. I genuinely felt like I was being tortured and through tears (almost never cry from pain) I asked her to stop. She was very cold and unapologetic in spite of the fact she had visibly hurt me. She almost didn't let me leave without agreeing to another form of birth control. I finally got her to relent by saying I wanted to test my hormone levels before agreeing to that. I was perimenopausal, making the IUD unnecessary entirely. Fast forward two years and I no longer have insurance and need my rescue inhaler refilled, she denied the pharmacy request. Asthma doesn't go away and I though I rarely have to use my inhaler, it is a literal lifesaver when I do. In short she has no bedside manner to speak of and she denied me a basic maintenance medication that could save my life.

Great care provided
I have seen Serena Luce two years in a row for my annual exam. I found her to be thorough, interested in what I had to say, and willing to offer me options to address my needs. Finding healthcare providers is like finding a car, everybody has different parameters. I will continue coming back to this clinic to see her, because it works well for me. I appreciate her low-key mannerism, and willingness to help me on the things that I have identified as important.

She was very short and insensitive to me at my appointment. She didn’t take the time to ask proper questions or check my well-being. It felt like she didn’t care or want to be there. I explained a problem I was having and she didn’t ask more information or look into the problem instead she dismissed it completely. She was also very judge mental about my medical history and was very unhelpful. Overall a huge waste of time and money and wouldn’t recommend to anybody that has a medical concern and wants to feel seen and supported.

Wouldn’t recommend
I went to see Dr Luce one time because I had been having issues with my period and pain after sex. I actually cried after I left the appointment because I felt like she didn’t listen or help at all. She said I most likely have endometriosis and that birth control would be the best way to fix it. I told her I didn’t want to be on birth control again and she basically ignored me and told me to think about it and get back to her…she never recommended any alternatives or anything. I didn’t feel like she wanted to fix the root issue or even search for it, just to put me on birth control and send me on my way..

Definitely Not Recommended
Had two yearly women's exams with Dr. Luce, in 2021 and 2022. Each time, I was interrogated about my employment status. The first year, I thought it was just me, maybe a fluke due to the pandemic. The second year of questioning it became a pattern ... an agenda? I don't see what my employment, lack thereof, or early retirement had to do with my gynecological health, much less what business of hers it was. It was not small talk. It was condescending in nature and tone, her questions and comments were unwarranted and irrelevant to the appointment. In my 2022 appointment, I mentioned I had been having recurrent UTI's the last couple of years and she completely dismissed my concerns. I finally went to a telehealth service who LISTENED to me, and prescribed proper medication. Needless to say, I won't be returning to see Dr. Luce.

I had two iuds, one inserted by her and another by her colleague. both needed to be removed due to my body rejecting them/incorrect placement. as i was sobbing on her exam table before the second removal she repeatedly hounded me about how i needed to go back on birth control afterwards. (FYI i am a lesbian, i do not need birth control, but was on it due to extremely heavy and painful periods.) i informed her that i did not feel comfortable going back on birth control as i had traumatic experiences with it and would rather solve the root of the problem. she said that i might have endometriosis but that she would not test for it unless i went on birth control. during the removal, which is an incredibly painful and invasive procedure, i was still sobbing and instead of asking me if i was okay, she tried to ask about my holiday plans. afterwards she told me again that i should go on birth control and then left the room. she did not provide any pads or tampons for me to use afterwards.

I did not feel supported or heard during my visit with Serena Luce. She seemed to be very put off by my desire to use natural medicine as my main course of treatment. I felt like she needed to contradict everything I said. She also insisted on jumping to a very painful, invasive procedure (which she was unsuccessful at completing) while refusing to consider following a treatment plan that has worked really well for me in the past. I walked out of the office with tears in my eyes, feeling extremely diminished and demoralized by her bedside manner.

I went after having a sinus infection for a month. She put me on antibiotics and prescription sudafed. This helped but didn't clear it up. She told me to keep up the sudafed and add in mucinex and a steroid or saline nose spray. I got saline. I called the next week still sick she did another round of antibiotics. No different results, 5 days in I call and ask what steroid nose spray is and they suggest flonase. 1 month after seeing her still sick. VERY frustrated.

I have visited her twice. Both visits being about birth control and my problems with anxiety and depression. When I brought up being ready to seek help for these issues, she just sat there and didn't really have anything to say. No recommendations, nothing. She made me feel very alien and like my anxiety was stupid and it just made me feel worse than before.

I was dramatically losing weight for no reason and had zero appetite and she just looked at me like I was anorexic and didn't offer any sort of advice. I basically had to probe her for any sort of seed or supplement to add to my food or any sort of tea or smell to boost my appetite. I was desperate and would have tried anything and she just sat there practically silent.
