Like a previous reviewer, I also have had almost entirely positive experiences with therapists before and therefore trust the profession, but Dr Thau has changed that. It's pretty infuriating and hurtful to spend half a session detailing how you witnessed or experienced family abuse, only to be asked why you think you're experiencing trauma symptoms and be met with skepticism. She is not good at hiding when she's judging you.

This is my first time attempting to connect with a therapist and it was a disappointing exchange in communications from the onset. Looked up her profile online and was impressed by her bio. Emailed her to ask about availability, preferably with evenings or weekends, but mentioned that I could also request time off of work to accommodate her availability. She did immediately respond asking what location I preferred and my insurance; only to come back to me stating that I should check elsewhere be

On the second session, Dr. Thau had me fill out a questionnaire to diagnose me; at the beginning of the third, she referred me to a psychiatrist for medication. She was difficult to get in contact with about scheduling and canceling appointments. Having good experiences with other psychologists, I trusted the profession in general and opened up to her immediately, only to be met with what I perceived to be judgment and it was a very uncomfortable experience.
