I was hesitant to try counseling again. I've had really bad experiences with counselors. This experience turned out, to quote Carrie Bradshaw, predictable.I needed someone with more skills, empathy and life experience. As an example, I told her I have better results with ACT rather than CBT. She insisted I write out the intrusive thought (I have OCD) cross it out and replace the thought. Another example, I needed to have an important conversation with someone and I didn't know how. Hence therapy. Instead of giving me the tools to deal with it, she just kind of expected me to talk to them and was hopeful I would. It's like she threw me out in the wild without really giving me the tools to deal with the wild.I shared an incredibly painful series of events with her, which wasn't easy for me. She wasn't very helpful. Her response could have left me feeling hopeless. Not even hopeless, no one can take away my hope, not even a counselor. More like pathetic.
