Was referred to her by my PCP while he was on vacation—I had blistered skin on my fingers, which I figured was just bad eczema, but she tells me it’s SYPHILIS (?!?). I’m a faithful husband married to a faithful wife who was tested for STIs during her recent pregnancy…I was pretty sure I’d know if I had syphilis. But when I tried to raise this objection, she just rushed through and told me I needed to get tested asap. Didn’t even bother with a differential diagnosis or asking one or two follow up questions. Needless to say, I had an awkward conversation with my wife about this diagnosis: thank God she’s a saint and trusted me. The next day I went to another provider and was diagnosed with eczema—syphilis didn’t even arise as a possibility. I did eventually get the blood test for Syph (negative, of course), so that I coul tell this story of what a haphazard, unprofessional, and reckless healthcare provider this is, I wouldn’t be jumping to any hasty conclusions (unlike her)
