This therapist is as dangerous as they come when it comes to teenagers. I sadly passed Lyme disease to my kid at birth not knowing I had it back then. My son saw him as a therapist (he changed his name to Dr. Stephen Lovato at some point) from October 2019 to March of 2020. In February Dr. Lovato began asking my husband and I to come for private sessions and asked to be my therapist as he thought that my trauma as a sexually abused child was affecting my son. He blindsided me at my first appointment and accused me of having Munchausens by Proxy and threatened to call DCFS on me because my son had done 3 sessions of neurofeedback for chronic Lyme induced insomnia. I can't sue him because my son will be deposed and I can't traumatize him anymore. My son doesn't believe in therapy as a result of his own confidant accusing his mother of MBP. I wouldn't wish my illnesses on anyone least of all my own kid.

I was an adolescent/adult patient of Stephen Fefferman for nearly a decade, undergoing critically life-changing psychiatric treatment. Through countless sessions I can confidently tell anyone parenting a teen experiencing emotional upset, that he is beyond patient, caring, and fully invested in the patient's best interest. He has not only helped me in regaining my life, but a future I could have never imagined when I began therapy. The insight and dedication he has for his patients is invaluable

Couples therapy. I found myself into a power struggle at some session and Steve asserted himself in an intimidating way. I found that he spent too much time exploring my significant others' dysfunctional issues. On a big disagreement between my S.O. and myself, Steve told me what he thought I should do on a very sensitive issue. I had not asked or welcomed his decision on this issue, and I was shocked. It was not appropriate and disrespectful, and did not take into consideration my feelings.
